CLARIFYING CUSTOMS CLEARANCE WITH UPS
United Parcel Service, better known as UPS, is an American multinational shipping, receiving and supply chain management company founded in 1907. Originally known as the American Messenger Company specializing in telegraphs, UPS has grown to become a Fortune 500 company and one of the world's largest shipping couriers.
During the global coronavirus pandemic UPS turned its attention to helping small businesses get through it by getting online and expanding their businesses overseas via e-commerce. However, most small businesses are owner operated and do not have a dedicated logistics manager who understands all the complexities of customs compliance.
Our challenge was to make customs accessible to busy SME owners so they could focus less on shipping and more growing their businesses without worrying about customs delays, penalties and returns due to non-compliance. Here's how we did it...
CONCEPT
There's already plenty to read about customs on the Internet, but it's pretty dry and hard to find. We decided to use video as a more accessible and entertaining educational medium, inspired by the legendary 'UPS Whiteboard' videos of the early 2000s.
CONTENT
Looking up info on the internet can be anxiety inducing because you're never 100% sure that it's right, localised and up to date. We decided to put UPS's in-house experts on camera to both comfort the viewer and give them confidence that there was real expertise behind every answer.
DISTRIBUTION
Finally, we put the whole series up on YouTube with eye catching and explanatory thumbnails, and used the platform's functionality to chapterise every individual answer so you can jump straight to what you need to know. We also turned the top soundbites into YouTube shorts, and are using A.I. to translate the series into multiple languages.
